Mike Landolfi
My name is Mike Landolfi and I study Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. This was my second summer interning at Quicken and loved it just as much as the first time. Although I attend school in New York, I’m originally from Menlo Park and enjoyed the luxury of living at home during my summers at Quicken. I also got to experience what it is like to with a team of talented engineers building a product that will be shipped.
My project work this summer largely consisted of improving and maintaining Quicken’s new online web-app. I have worked on a multitude of projects across the site, such as improving transaction categorization and tagging. I also constructed a new feature that lets users see their savings balances over the past six months, and I began building a new feature that enables users to predict their finances based on adjustable variables.
Since this was my second summer at Quicken, I was given more responsibility and held to higher standards. This added responsibility let me learn a lot more about real world development practices and difficulties. Although I had more tasks and responsibility, Quicken maintained a stable learning atmosphere so that I never felt overwhelmed and could always ask for help.
Although the work was exciting, the true excellence of Quicken is its employees. They are the nicest group of people I have ever met and I love the atmosphere they create. Quicken has been a great place to learn and grow and I could not have asked for a better team to help me along the way.
