Quicken Mobile Companion App User Guide
Overview
Quicken on your mobile device (iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phone or tablet) syncs with your desktop data and makes keeping track of your money easy when you’re on the go.
What to know:
- Your data moves in both directions – to and from your desktop and mobile devices. Quicken will sync everything so you always have the latest information.
- At the end of a sync everything matches – Accounts, transactions, balances, wherever you choose to view your data.
Note: For investments, you can currently sync your accounts, their balances, and your watchlist; however, investment transactions are not currently synced to your mobile device.
Installing the Quicken Mobile Companion App on Your Mobile Device
You can install the Quicken Mobile Companion app on your Android and Apple devices.
To install the app on an Android device:
- Open Google Play.
- Search for Quicken.
- Download the Quicken app.
- Sign in with your Quicken ID to get started.
To install the app on an iPhone or iPad:
- Open App Store.
- Search for Quicken.
- Download the Quicken app.
- Sign in with your Quicken ID to get started.
Setting up Your Accounts for Mobile Sync
After you install the Quicken Mobile Companion app, you must determine the accounts that you want to view on the app.
To set up Quicken Windows for Mobile Sync:
- Open Quicken for Windows.
- Click the Mobile & Web tab and then click Get Started.
- In the Add Account Settings window, select the accounts that you want to view on your Mobile Companion app and click Done.
- Click Sync Now to sync with the Mobile app.
To set up Quicken Mac for Mobile Sync:
- Open Quicken for Mac.
- Click the Alerts tab and then click the icon.
- Under Mobile, Web & Alerts, turn on Sync.
You can now access the accounts through the Quicken Mobile Companion app.
Using the Mobile Companion App
When you log in to the Quicken Mobile Companion app, Quicken displays all the data files you synced. Select a file that you want to use. You can switch between multiple files when required.
The Overview screen displays a high-level summary of the following information. You can click on any of the items to review the information in detail.
- Banking and credit account balances
- Recent transactions
- Spending by category, spending over time, and income over time
- Income and expenses for the month
- Monthly budgets
You can perform the following tasks using the Mobile Companion app:
- View your account information
- Add and edit transactions
- Know where your money goes
- Manage your budgets
Viewing Your Accounts
From your Overview screen, tap on Budget and Credit Accounts to view the following details of your accounts:
- The list of accounts you have chosen to sync.
- The total online balance of all the accounts.
Note: Pending transactions are not displayed. - The balance of each account and the total balance of all the accounts. This is the sum of the accounts and transactions on your mobile device.
- The total project balance of all the accounts.
You can tap on any account to view the following information:
- The transactions related to the account.
- Today’s Balance: The sum of all the transactions entered, as of today.
- Online Balance: The sum of the transactions that have cleared in your bank, as of today. For accounts that are not connected to your bank, the value of Online Balance is zero.
- Projected Balance: The balance of all transactions entered in the account register. These transactions include manually entered transactions in the register, future-dated transactions such as post-dated checks, and online payments that have been sent but not yet processed.
Adding and Editing Transactions
Using the Mobile Companion app you can add transactions to your accounts. You can also add a split transaction or edit an existing transaction to split it.
To add a transaction:
- In the Overview screen, tap on Budget and Credit Accounts.
- Tap on the account for which you want to add a transaction.
- Click the icon at the bottom of your screen.
- Enter the details and click Save.
To edit a transaction:
- In the Overview screen, tap on Budget and Credit Accounts.
- Tap on the account for which you want to edit a transaction.
- Tap on the transaction and make the necessary changes.
- Click Save.
Adding a Split Transaction
To add a split transaction:
- In the Overview screen, tap on Budget and Credit Accounts.
- Tap on the account for which you want to add a split transaction.
- Do one of the following:
- To create a transaction, click the icon at the bottom of your screen.
- To edit a transaction, tap on the transaction.
- Turn on Split.
- Enter the necessary details and click Save.
Knowing Where Your Money Goes
The Mobile Companion app also lets you understand where you are spending your money in a month.
The Mobile Companion app displays the various categories where your money is spent. You can also view the money spent on a payee.
To know where your money goes:
- In the Overview screen, tap on Month Summary.
For example, tap on November Summary.
By default, the Mobile Companion app displays spending based on Categories. To view the spending based on payees, tap on the Payee. - Tap on a category or a payee to view all the transactions for that category or payee. You can further tap on a transaction to edit it.
Managing Your Budgets
You can view the budgets you set up in Quicken Windows or Quicken Mac on the Mobile Companion app.
Note: Ensure that you perform a One Step Update to access the budgets on the Mobile Companion app.
To view your budgets:
- In the Overview screen, tap on Month Budget.
- For example, tap on November Budget.
